CHAP - Child Health and Parenting

Our vision is to increase knowledge of parenting support and its implementation through high-quality interdisciplinary research with the aim to increase health and well-being of children and parents.

The research team

We promote the health of children and parents through world class research.

We evaluate and support the implementation of programs aimed to promote the mental health of children and parents.

We strive to make CHAP a “go to place” for professionals, policymakers, researchers, students and journalists in the field of child mental health and parenting.

The Parenting Support Research Team is a multidisciplinary group with a primary focus on the evaluation of community-based interventions for parents (parenting support): programs, methods of working or interaction models that focus on parenting.

The group is led by Professor Anna Sarkadi, MD. CHAP currently consists of 15 people with a background in psychology, public health, medicine, sociology, and health economics.

The Children's Ombudsman in Uppsala Children's Rights Prize was awarded to Professor Anna Sarkadi. She received the award as a representative of the CHAP - Child Health and Parenting research group.
